I have an Outer Wilds hatchling oc called Malachite who would have done a lot more biology research on other planets, as well as documenting Nomai structures they might have come across. Thing is, Malachite used to have a sibling named Aventurine that passed away some time before they became an astronaut. I imagine that while their life is relatively easier than their time loop counterpart, they still would have struggled with their sibling’s death for the duration they were an astronaut. They typically would have stayed off world as Timber Hearth had too many memories that they didn’t want to process.

In contrast to a post time loop Malachite, who eventually retires and becomes the next generations flight coach and improving the safety and training based on their accidents during the loop, the No loop au Malachite stays an astronaut for as long as possible.

I imagine they’d find most of the major discoveries of the Nomai on the Ash Twins and Giant’s Deep. especially as there’s more flora and fauna there in comparison to other planets. They’d also probably take a crack at trying to figure out Dark Bramble, and accidentally find Feldspar in the process.

It takes a while for them to be convinced to go back, especially when Malachite themself was avoiding the planet, but the Founders reunion does happen. This happens over a pretty long period of time, though, maybe even a couple years after Malachite finds Feldspar.

How would your Hatchling's life go if they were allowed to live their full lifetime without the time loop or any cosmic shenanigans? What would they do with their time, what would their career focus be? Would they raise any hatchlings or leave that to others? Would they even stay an astronaut?
